Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country Club

The Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort was opened in 1958 by no other than John D. Rockefeller, Jr.'s son Laurance with only one thing in mind – to create a place to vacation harmoniously with nature. By this, he must have meant something like "no building taller than a palm tree", for that’s what it is now. After its creation, it was widely heralded as one of his Rock Resorts. And so up to now, the Hyatt Dorado still maintains Rockefeller's intent in keeping up with the dense, blossoming gardens of the resort's main section and the nearly concealed buildings colored in soft earth tones. All over the resort, there are tall palm trees that curve gracefully upward and natural forests which cover much of the resort’s grounds. In fact, you can even hear Coqui frogs sing here after dark.

However, inspite of the sprawing haven of nature, the Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort and Country Club still remains quite a large hotel with 280 units. This makes this 2 story hotel a great option for those guests who truly appreciate the benefits of a major hotel. As a matter of fact, Hyatt has spent millions on improvements here. Today, the renovated guest rooms have marble bathrooms and terra-cotta floors all throughout. Located on the north coast, 22 miles west of San Juan, it has 1,000 acres of land and features four golf courses, spa, watersports and a storied history.
